Initially hired to re-launch the marine service marketing and customer service efforts, the role expanded to support the new boutique auto sales launch and help marketing strategies for the yacht sales company. Current responsibilities include marketing and communications strategy, customer service, sales, business development, human resources, special projects, vendor relations, contracts, sourcing, pricing, invoicing, billing, and operations.

  • Doubled year-over-year revenues through updated digital and traditional marketing, and improved customer relations
  • Improve year-over-year revenues through the COVID-19 pandemic and major staff turnover

The roles included business development, strategy, sales, and communications and marketing strategy. As an independent contractor, consultant, or employee, customers included a media company with international influencers and a social community of more 100,000 participants, and best-in-class kayak retailer that expanded within an established competitive and recreation sailing retail company.

Face the Current Media Group Key Achievements
  • Developed the company’s first platform engagement, content, and sales processes for international influencers 
  • Developed the company’s first editorial schedule as well as editing and publishing social media platform content 
  • Developed first pitch deck for capital pitches for thousands of dollars.
West Coast Sailing Key Achievements
  • Played a primary role in sales, marketing, and events in the expansion of a recreation kayak and fishing program that generated more than $300,000 in first year revenues.

Communications Director
Multnomah Athletic Club, Portland, OR  
2010 to 2017 
Promoted from manager to director of communications, the initial responsibility was integrating digital and print communications and marketing throughout the 23,000 member platinum-level club. The department’s staff initiated, planned, produced, and published content for the website platform, monthly print magazine, electronic email newsletters, print and digital posters, flyers, social media, menus, invitations, and a variety of special projects. The department’s budget was $1 million with more than half in advertising sales revenue. The team collaborated with executives, board members, managers, department staff, committees, and member volunteers. Was responsible for negotiating contracts with vendors and independent contractors.

  • Combined and restructured roles and responsibilities of the print, graphics, and digital marketing departments 
  • Forecast and met digital and print budget and sales goals through a recession and recovery
  • Member and leader on corporate initiatives in diversity, customer service, employee engagement, values, and safety 
  • Doubled email marketing open rates through messaging, templates, cross marketing, and segmentation

Communications Manager

1998 to 2010 
Promoted to professionalize and expand the communications department print and graphic processes, procedures, and content. The purpose was to align communications strategy, drive change and adaption, and coordinate content across internal and external channels. The responsibilities included curating story ideas, managing editorial calendars, creative direction, research, project management, reporting and photography, and event management. Was leader of a five-person sales and creative team that supported management, volunteers, and line staff and a budget of more than $500K.

  • Initiated and managed annual editorial calendars and messaging across print, digital, and social channels
  • Initiated and managed a custom online project management system that processed hundreds of projects annually
